Where the price difference comes from
- Keyword allowance per dollar. SE Ranking Core includes 4× the daily keywords of Semrush SEO for about the same price. Growth (5,000) costs about half of Semrush Advanced (5,000).
- Bing. SE Ranking tracks Bing; Semrush Position Tracking is Google only.
- Everything else. Both are full SEO suites. Semrush's keyword and backlink databases are larger, and its plans include more research tools. If rank tracking is the main job, SE Ranking is cheaper at every published volume.
How each counts keywords
SE Ranking
- Keywords are counted as targets: keyword × search engine. Google desktop and Google mobile are separate engines, and each tracked location counts again.
- Enterprise (custom limits) is quote-only.
- Extra keywords, the Agency Pack (white-label, annual billing only) and the AI Search Toolkit are paid add-ons.
- 14-day free trial.
Semrush
- Position Tracking covers Google only.
- Each device and location is set up as its own tracking campaign, so it uses the keyword allowance again.
- The plans are full SEO suites; rank tracking is one module.
